What an AI Logo Generator Does

An AI logo generator turns a short brand brief into a raster image of a logo. In this workbench, the brief is structured: the name and optional tagline are the only free-text fields, while industry, logo type, style, palette, and aspect ratio come from defined choices. That makes repeated runs easier to compare than an open prompt box.

The output is a visual concept, not a finished identity system. Use it to find a direction for a site, social avatar, pitch, or early product. A production identity may still need custom typography, vector redrawing, spacing rules, alternate lockups, and a trademark clearance search.

Four deliberate steps

How to Make a Logo With AI

Only Generate spends credits. Everything before it is a reversible way to make the brief more specific.

  1. 01

    Enter the name exactly

Use the spelling and spacing you want to inspect in the result. Add a short tagline only when it must belong to the lockup; a second line gives the image model more text to render and proofread.

  2. 02

    Choose one design direction

Pick an industry, mark type, style, palette, and canvas. “Surprise me” varies the mark type across four concepts; a fixed mark type keeps the category stable and varies the construction.

  3. 03

    Set the concept budget

One concept costs 20 credits, two cost 40, and four cost 80. The Generate button shows the total before submission. Concepts are sent in sequence and settle independently.

  4. 04

    Proofread at two sizes

Check every letter at full size, then view the mark near avatar size. Keep the concept only if the name, silhouette, spacing, and contrast survive both tests.

Pick the structure first

Logo Types and When to Use Them

A type is a constraint on composition, not a claim about quality. Start from where the mark will appear and how much wording it has to carry.

Wordmark

The name is the mark. It is direct, but every letter must work because there is no symbol to carry recognition.

Lettermark

Initials become a compact monogram. It suits long names, provided the abbreviation is already meaningful to the audience.

Combination mark

A symbol and name share one lockup. This is the most flexible starting point when a new brand needs both an icon and readable name.

Emblem

Type sits inside a badge or crest. It can feel established, but fine borders and long wording lose clarity first at small sizes.

Abstract mark

Geometry carries the idea without drawing the product literally. Distinctiveness depends on the specific shape, not an explanation beside it.

Mascot

A character gives the brand a voice. Keep the silhouette simple if the same mark must work in a profile image or favicon.

Concept illustration for fictional brand Northline with a geometric route and mountain combination markEditorial concept

Northline outdoor equipment

A geometric combination mark pairs a route-like N with the fictional name Northline. The wide 4:3 canvas leaves room to judge the symbol and wordmark as one unit.

Concept illustration for fictional coffee label Ember Note using a warm retro wordmarkEditorial concept

Ember Note coffee label

A bold retro wordmark tests whether two short words can hold personality without an extra icon. The square crop also exposes whether the lettering remains readable as a shop avatar.

Concept illustration for fictional wellness studio Stillwater with a restrained S lettermarkEditorial concept

Stillwater wellness studio

A minimal lettermark reduces the fictional name to one calm S-shaped form. This is the small-size test: the mark needs to read without relying on the full word beside it.

2K PNG Output, Not a Vector Identity Kit

Every concept from this tool is a 2K PNG on a solid background. It does not include SVG, EPS, editable layers, a font file, a transparent variant, or a brand-guideline document. Raster output works for early web use and presentations; large signage, embroidery, packaging production, and precision print usually need a vector redraw.

Image models draw text as pixels. Short names are easier than long names, and a tagline adds another line that can drift. Proofread character by character. If one concept is almost right but misspells a word, change one variable or regenerate that concept; do not treat plausible-looking lettering as approved copy.

Generation also does not make a mark legally clear. Similar shapes can arise from similar briefs, and a new image can still conflict with an existing trademark. The USPTO recommends checking federal records and common-law use before filing or investing in a mark.

Trademark Clearance and Copyright Are Not the Same Question

A logo can function as a trademark when it identifies the source of goods or services, but generation does not register it and Img ai does not run a clearance search. The USPTO says confusing similarity may come from appearance, sound, meaning, or overall commercial impression, and recommends searching federal records plus common-law use. Search the wording and the visual idea before launch, and get qualified legal advice when the brand matters commercially.

Copyright asks who created the protected expression. The U.S. Copyright Office’s January 2025 report says generative output may be protected when a human contributes sufficient expressive elements, such as creative modifications or arrangement, but the mere provision of prompts is not enough. Keep records of any redraw, typesetting, selection, and arrangement performed by a human. This page provides product information, not legal advice.

AI Logo Generator FAQ

Costs, file formats, text reliability, legal limits, and task recovery without inflated promises.

Is the Img ai AI Logo Generator free?

No. An account is required and each concept costs 20 credits. The workbench shows the total for one, two, or four concepts before you generate; current plan prices are on the Pricing page.

Can I download an SVG or transparent logo?

Not from this tool. It returns a 2K PNG on a solid background. Choose a vector-oriented logo product or have the selected concept redrawn when you need SVG, EPS, editable paths, or production files.

Will the generator spell my business name correctly?

It is designed around an exact brand-name field, but correct text is not guaranteed. Short names and restrained lockups are easier. Proofread every character and tagline before publishing.

Are four concepts just four recolors?

No. Each concept receives a different construction brief. “Surprise me” moves through a combination mark, wordmark, emblem, and lettermark; a fixed logo type varies the form while preserving that type.

Can I trademark an AI-generated logo?

How a mark was drawn is not a substitute for trademark analysis. Search for confusingly similar wording and designs used with related goods or services, then consider professional advice before filing. Img ai does not clear or register marks.

Where does a finished concept go?

Successful concepts appear in the workbench and remain in My Creations. If you close the page during a run, the saved task identity lets the workbench resume status checks without intentionally creating a second charge.
